Swarna Lata Sinha

The Blind Mission Project Fund is for underprivileged persons throughout the world who cannot afford eye care. Often, the surgical care provided by this fund changes the lives of people with serious eye afflictions and the lives of their families by returning their sight, thereby returning their ability to work and provide for their families, to watch their children grow and play, and to live more joyously.

The Blind Mission Project was started in memoriam of the late Swarna Lata Sinha, Dr. Sushant Sinha’s mother. This mission is dedicated to bringing the gift of sight to those unable to afford the medications and surgeries needed to improve and restore their vision. This fund strictly provides for medicine, equipment, glasses and surgery; it does not provide for the travel expenses of the ophthalmologists who volunteer their time and abilities.

Dr. Sushant Sinha, founder of the Blind Mission Project, is a highly praised ophthalmologist in Decatur, Illinois. The lives of many Illinois residents have been greatly improved because of his surgical expertise. At his own expense, Dr. Sinha frequently visits India, where he performs surgical services for those who could not otherwise afford them. He donates his surgical skills in an effort to continue his mother’s tradition of bestowing kindness and generosity to the poor and underprivileged.

Dr. Sinha and his colleagues recently returned from the Dominican Republic, where in less than seven days, he and three of his associates volunteered in performing over 130 surgeries and examinations for 1,200 patients. During that time, over 600 pairs of prescription glasses were given to patients free of charge.

Dr. Sinha has performed volunteer eye surgeries in China, India and the Dominican Republic. He hopes to continue his volunteer service in the future in other parts of the world and in underprivileged areas of the United States. Please contact the Blind Mission Project to find out where your donations will be used to help salvage and restore the privilege of sight.
